Delegates are meeting in Geneva to advance negotiations on the proposed WHO Pandemic Agreement aimed at improving future global health responses.

Representatives from governments around the world have gathered in Geneva for another round of negotiations on the proposed WHO Pandemic Agreement, a treaty designed to strengthen international cooperation during future public health emergencies.

The discussions are focusing on improving information sharing, strengthening disease surveillance, ensuring equitable access to vaccines and medical supplies, and enhancing preparedness for future outbreaks.

Health officials say the COVID-19 pandemic exposed weaknesses in global coordination, making international cooperation essential for responding more effectively to future health crises.

Negotiators are also discussing mechanisms for sharing scientific data and improving manufacturing capacity for vaccines and medicines during emergencies.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has repeatedly emphasised that pandemic preparedness requires sustained political commitment, investment and international solidarity.

Public health experts believe a successful agreement could significantly improve global readiness for future infectious disease outbreaks.
