IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert Across Several Indian States

Authorities urge residents to remain cautious as active monsoon conditions continue across large parts of the country.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several states as the southwest monsoon remains active over much of the country.

States including Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, Rajasthan and parts of North India are expected to receive intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Disaster management agencies have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert for possible flooding, landslides and traffic disruptions. Local administrations have deployed emergency response teams while monitoring river levels and low-lying areas.

The IMD said monsoon activity is likely to remain strong over the coming days, with additional rainfall expected across western and southern India.

Authorities have urged citizens to follow official weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel in areas experiencing severe weather.
