Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has called on state governments to place exports at the centre of their economic strategies, urging them to fully utilise the BHAVYA initiative to improve India's global trade competitiveness.
Addressing the Board of Trade meeting, Goyal said closer coordination between the Centre and states would be essential to achieving India's long-term export ambitions. He encouraged state governments to improve logistics, simplify business procedures and identify sectors with strong export potential.
The minister noted that expanding exports remains a key pillar of India's strategy for sustaining economic growth, generating employment and strengthening domestic manufacturing under the Make in India initiative.
Officials also discussed ways to improve supply chains, promote quality standards and support micro, small and medium enterprises entering international markets.
Trade experts believe greater state participation could significantly enhance India's export performance by encouraging region-specific industrial development and improving competitiveness.
